I did this contract ASAP after the EU servers were up, and I used my BMG to "tick" riflemen - and it counted for the contract...

personally i hope its a credit change because this contract is a personal peeve of mine because it normally results in having to do liberate the lost co-op 3-5 times to get it completed

Will do this contract at some point today and see, it could just be a wording change and not a credit change. I think it comes from riflemen only with the optical sights model.

If this is how the contract works, we don't really need group credit sharing. There's riflemen out the ass in this co-op.

Yes, a daily quest should not require more than a single instance run, it rewards the same reputation points as complete xxx co-op map.

Yeah, well, the basic logic should go "every enemy in the damn instance counts towards the contract so i don't have to play it 8000 times to find 8 nondistinguishable guys out of the 600 or so in the instance". Whoever thought this was a good idea needs a charge blade lodged in their ass.

There's nothing really to look into.  I'm a programmer and the basic logic goes like this.

When a mob is killed that is required for contract it calls the group array (list of 4 players)Then it iterates through each of these players and increments the counter on that specific contract.

The contract counter that it should be incrementing is something like daily_contract.  I'm guessing the serve uses the same variable name for each daily contract and simply has separate functions that update this counter based on what the current daily contract is.

There are mobs called "Mutant Soldier"  I believe I received credit on these enemies.  There are only 8 in the instance so you'll have to run it at least 3 times to get full credit.

Yes, the credit nerf where you have to hit the npc to get credit hurt this contract hard. Trion have said they are looking into having group credit.

What I'm getting from the official forums is that this contract can only be accomplished in the co-op Liberate the Lost, and only 8 of the correct riflemen spawn per instance.

Due to the last change in missions, you have to do some damage to each to get the kill counted.  They're weak mobs, and die to a angry look, so plan on doing this multiple times to get one contract done.

Done in the co-op match for Delta Bunker East, I'm not sure from which NPC but I got 8 per run.
