Defiant Few Weapons and PvP

Like most people, I've left my PvP pursuits until last, and now I'm trying to take it seriously for the first time since launch. After trying several matches of PvP and only racking up a handful of kills, I turn my frustration towards the new weapons.

Edit: Kiwibird posted that some changes are going to be made to the weapons and PhantasieTrion posted some notes on the PTS for this.

I'm running out of activities left in my progression path (Max EGO Rating), the game is narrowing to the hard to achieve pursuits and Competitive Multiplayer (PvP).

When the game was released this was dominated with Cloak and Sawed-off Shotguns, meaning for instant kills most of the time. Then we had the time of Detonators also meaning for rapid kills. Now we have the era of the homing weapons.

Three new weapons with unique mechanics were introduced in the last update. Two of these have become frequently used during my experiences in PvP.

Defiant Few Bloodhound (Sub Machine Gun)

Locks on to track enemies. Fires homing projectiles at a low rate of fire. Uses Guided Rocket Launcher Mods.

Defiant Few Gang Buster (Detonator)

Locks on to track enemies. Fires homing projectiles at a low rate of fire. Uses Guided Rocket Launcher Mods.

Tonight was the first night that I remember joining PvP since the game launched that I ventured back into PvP. I completed an instanced match and 3 Shadow Wars. My experience was terrible in the instanced match, and poor in the Shadow War. The only redeeming thing about the Shadow Wars was that the area was so vast, there were occasionally people I could fight who weren't using these weapons.

It's not that I mind dying, it's more that there seemingly is no avoidance or counter to this ranged destruction. I even for a moment switched out to one myself, and had marginal success. I guess if you can't beat them, join them?

There is already an incredibly large thread on the Official Forums discussing how overpowered these weapons are in PvP. - See Thread

Have you tried playing against these weapons? do you use them? have any suggestions as to how to beat them? Have you been playing PvP since launch?

I haven't done any PVP since last week when the daily challenge for Echilon was get 5 defense kills in Capture and Hold. That was my 25th daily challenge and therefore the end of my reputation pursuits until Defiant Few and Tarr Family came out. Out of my multiplayer pursuits left I have only to 'destroy 50 enemy vehicles in Shadow War' (have 22 or so right now), 'Get 1500 kills in PVP' (I have about 150 kills to go), and 'spend 50 hours in competitive multiplayer'. I have yet to get these weapons, but now know what those radiation like nats were when I'd critical during an arkfall lately. Before these I used Breaker Cannons in an attempt to up my rockets skill and get the vehicle kills during shadow war, but also to deal with cloakers. Locking on to them before they cloak leaves them exposed to being hit.

I started my PvP pursuits during the age of cloak sawed offs, using my outlaw mainly with fire. Now I use the Sweeper pump shotguns and Fraggers. The double shot plus 8 rounds gives you technically 4 shots off. However combined with radiation makes it an armor breaker to deal with those in Shadow War who use the extra armor stims.

I do have bloodhound equipped that replaced the sniper, but i would say shotgun cloack is still the way to go since the gangbaster is super slow and the bloodhound is only good for takeing out the shields.Pvp was always a bit too puishing in terms of dmg and hits that needed to take someone out.

To be fair, I was equally dying to Infectors (seemingly unavoidable), Snipers (ofc), and shotguns in the back :)
