Defiance in 2014 - A Review

 

Defiance was undergoing a lot of changes in the year 2014. This is an attempt to summarize as much as possible.

2014 was a big year for Defiance. We got our last three DLCs, we had changes in the community team, Defiance went F2P on all three platforms and that's only the beginning.

We at Defiance Data feel it's time to review this year of our beloved game. Throughout the year, we have been posting articles and news around Defiance and have been making changes to the website itself. 12 months is a long time and you might already have forgotten some of these changes. I know I have!

It was a lot of fun for me to make this journey through the year 2014 and I hope you have as much fun as I did! I expect some of you to say: "Oh wow! That happened in March already?!" Or "That was only a month ago?!"

January

• Livestream with dahanese, OverloadUT and Trick teasing the 7th Legion DLC

February

• 7th Legion DLC is released
  • Incursions are being introduced
  • Chat Changes
• dahanese and OverloadUT leave Defiance. They hold a last Livestream
• Cole joins the team and is seen in his first livestream
• Kiwibird joins the Community team

March

• Scapes and Ocho join the community team
• Gunslinger DLC is released
• Changed site design to a tile-based layout.

April

• Defiance celebrates its first year with boosts
• The last DLC, Archtech Revolution, is released
  • Introduction of Arkforge
  • Introduction of scaling

May

• Kiwibird posts our first Q&A instead of a livestream
• A special outfit and headgear are released to support "Doctors Without Borders"

June

• Defiance goes from B2P to F2P on PC
  • NSFW-Patch is released on all three platforms at the same time though
  • Introduction of the Patron Pass
• Glpyh is launched!
• Season 2 of the TV Show starts
  • Ego Codes now are only redeemable until the next episode airs
• Grant Bowler and Jaime Murray are on a special Defiance livestream
• Introduction of Shrill grenades
• Grid Emergencies get introduced
• Dodge Durango Races are introduced. Durango only available as a race vehicle
• PhantasieTrion offers a title in exchange for help on the PTS
• Added a Guides section, users can submit their own guides.

July

• Kiwibird starts the "Tell us about your Defiance Fan Project"-project
• Alter Ego is released
  • Warmaster changes
  • New factions: Defiant Few & Tarr Family
• F2P on consoles is delayed
• Glpyh is coming to Defiance
• Store prices on outfits ae reduced
• PTS Testers now can get bonuses and can get their character copied over
• Warmaster Health Indicators as requested by the community
• Defiance goes F2P on Steam
• Introduction of Gulanee Arkbreaks
• Introduction of Encryption
• Kiwibird appears on her first livestream
• Etaew, Market and community members from other Trion games are invited to the Trion HQ

August

• Silicon Valley is live
  • New landmass!
  • New minor Grid Arkfall
• Dynamic Event Scheduler gets introduced
• Belle Starr releases her first Episode on Defiance Data
• PS3 goes F2P
• Lockbox changes
• Live Chat Changes
• Trion is inviting people to join them at PAX
• Rashere joins the Defiance Team, introduces himself and talks about future changes
• First Jackpot item: A legendary Wildcat
• Undesirable weapons are removed from lockboxes until they are revamped
• Timers from the Salvage Matrix are removed

September

• The Community could vote on a bonus weekend
• Defiance Data releases a Public Test Server Guide
• Dev Deathmarch in Silicon Valley during a Livestream
• Current Jackpot Item: Respark Regenerator V Ark
• SyFy renewed Defiance for a third season
• We added the ability to store and share Loadouts on the site instead of just through the URL.

October

• Trion participates in the Extra Life Event and holds a 24 hour Livestream
• Halloween Event with a new Arkfall and special weapons
• Escyos and Etaew are the first recipients of the Trion Supporter outfit
• Current Jackpot Item: Cataclysm
  • First one to have a special name and unique rolls
• We started keeping track of Jackpot Weapons

November

• Aftermath is released
  • Changes made to reload of shotguns, Zaggers and Prepardness
• Thanksgiving Event with a new Arkfall and special weapons
• XBox goes F2P
• Defiance Data ran a Hallowen Giveaway

December

• Defiance Data ran Thanksgiving Giveaway for 15 Cornucopia Supply Crates
• An explanation on "Out of Combat"-targets by The Crater
• Fuzzy joins Defiance Data as a site manager
• Added a Staff page.
• Scapes teases on what we can expect from Defiance in 2015

• Farewell Repo-Man: The Vehicle Disappearing bug is gone!
