The new Producer for Defiance Chris Lena has introduced himself, given an update on the upcoming DLC and plans for updates for the game.

Summary

You can read the full letter at: http://community.defiance.com/en/2013/07/23/dev-blog-castithan-charge-pack-and-the-future-of-defiance/

  • New producer has history working on MMO games
  • DLC will be released in August
  • Still plan 5 DLCS in the first year of the game
  • Points out the age of the game and amount of time spent with updates and fixes already
  • Fixed all known Critical Error patching bugs
  • Premade group features in co-op maps are fixed and is making its way to live
  • Fixes incoming to voice chat, and the chat window
  • Clans are being looked at
  • Console users will be able to select a new region to play on like the PC ones can (still need to create fresh characters)
  • Believes that everyone is better off if they interact more with the players

Impression

I can't speak for the old producer, I had no interaction or impressions of him. However for this producer's message I think the letter is well worded, there are sounds that I like about the interaction with players more. Communication is super important and has been very lacking recently.

I'm not suprised about the delay in the DLC, but without a date specified it could be at any time during August (predictions around the 20th).

I'm glad that there is clarification on the season, being the year after launch and that they are still commited to providing all 5. However I worry that these may be watered down.
