Colony Courtship Weapons, Synergy and Jackpots Preview

In February, we'll be bringing back the Colony Courtship event to celebrate Valentine's Day and with it, we have new weapons, a new synergy, and new jackpots. We'll have these up on PTS soon, but I wanted to give folks a preview of what's coming and start getting feedback.

So...let's start with the synergy. We're calling it Flames of Passion and its major bonus will effectively turn any gun into a dual-nano weapon as it adds an intensified and predictable version of the fire nano effect to the gun. In the case of an incendiary weapon, the damage from the Flames of Passion DoT stacks with the normal weapon proc.

Flames of Passion

  1. Being hit by an opponent increases your movement speed by 30% for 3 seconds. (Cooldown: 10s)
  2. +25% nano-effect chance
  3. +10% damage and bug damage
  4. Sets target on fire when hit, causing additional fire damage for 3 seconds. While on fire, target takes increased health damage. The fire may spread to nearby enemies when the target dies. (Cooldown: 6s)


The event weapons all sport the prefix 'Passionate' and include the new explosive hatchling weapons as well as some old favorites. Every gun type that normally can have nanos will drop with a nano so you can take full advantage of the synergy effect.

  • Passionate Brood Lobber
  • Passionate Brood Launcher
  • Passionate Blast Rifle
  • Passionate Tachmag Pulser
  • Passionate LM-43 Thunder
  • Passionate INF-27 Immunizer


As with other recent events, I picked a weapon to retune as part of the event work. In this case, the INF-27 Immunizer. I've made some major tuning changes to the gun to make it more playable, including reducing the base reload time from 3 to 2.5, increasing the base fire rate from 5 to 6, increasing the burst count from 3 to 5, and decreasing the number of infections required to spawn bugs from 6 to 5. The last two combined effectively cause the target to spawn a bug with each burst, assuming all rounds land.

Finally, we have the jackpot versions of these weapons. It's easiest to just post images of these so you can see the stats. You'll note that none of them have an incendiary nano so they can maximize the benefits from the Flames of Passion synergy.

We're wrapping up a couple of fixes for these items and will get them up on PTS once that's done, likely in the next few days. To ease testing, a PTS only supply crate will be available that gives a random assortment of these guns, a random assortment of the mods, a random jackpot, and some arkforge and salvage.

These nanos will likely change. So far the Blast Rifle and Tachmag look to be switching nanos while the Immunizer will be electric.
