Belle Starr: Starr Gazers, FCN interrupts your regular viewing pleasure to bring you this special news bulletin for you about another special clan sponsored event entitled the Community Shadow War this last weekend! Many ark hunters were killed but many also received legendary weapons and even special prizes from Trion Worlds, Inc! Amazing! We brought in our Pale Wars veteran and legendary ark hunter, Erika Widowmaker, as our special war correspondent to report on this event, because, frankly speaking, I’m too famous and too pretty to be shot at!

FCN News Bulletin: Community Shadow War Chaos!

Amazing! We brought in our Pale Wars veteran and legendary ark hunter, Erika Widowmaker, as our special war correspondent, to report on this event, because, frankly speaking, I’m too famous and too pretty to be shot at!

Erika Widowmaker: About that, when do I get paid?

Belle Starr: The check, as they say, is in the mail! Now Erika, tell us about the Community Shadow War!

Erika Widowmaker: A regular Shadow War is a type of competitive PVP arena, where two large teams fight to control several capture points. Points in the contest both for the participant and their team are won by capturing and holding these points, as well as “killing” members of the other team, who can “revive” to be “killed” again. When one team gets enough points, the Shadow War ends and the winning team declared. You also have to avoid numerous conflicts with the local fauna during the Shadow War, like the Monarch I ran into in the Community Shadow War, and where I also ran into mutants, scrappers, and even Volge.

Belle Starr: How was the Community Shadow War different from regular run-of-the-mill Shadow Wars?

Erika Widowmaker: This particular event was hosted by the Cronus clan and was several Shadow Wars in a row with huge teams set in the San Francisco wasteland, followed by an awards ceremony in Port Bruno.

Belle Starr: You took ninety screen shots Erika, too bad we can only see a few of them! Looks like you captured one of those points in this screenshot! Good work!

Erika Widowmaker: Looks can be deceiving Belle. See the little radar screen in the upper right hand corner. I’m the white arrow and the red dots are the enemy. That screenshot was a second before I was killed by the red dots surrounding me. Because of your drekking rule that I was not to shoot other participants, I spent most of the time reviving and running to a capture point to hopefully get a screenshot before I was killed yet again! As you can see though, the capture points went from A to G, more than I have ever seen in a Shadow War before, so plenty of capture points to run to.

Belle Starr: Yeah, about that! I see you holding a Piper AR! FCN received a complaint from one participant saying their backside hurt because Belle Starr shot them in it during the Community Shadow War! What’s that all about!

Erika Widowmaker: I’ll tell you what I told him, I shot him in self defense! I used your name because I’m not sullying my good name as a PVPer letting myself get killed so many times just to take pictures for your drekking bulletin! It’s not like you gave me a badge saying “Combat Correspondent” or a banner over my head saying “Please don’t kill the Reporter!” Don’t think either would have worked anyway!

Belle Starr: Well did you talk to Altra, the founder of the Cronus clan and creator of this Community Shadow War event, to at least get his clan mates to quit shooting you?

Erika Widowmaker: Yeah, he was one of the first ones to kill me! I hailed him in PM chat right after that, and his response was to laugh evilly and say that wasn’t going to happen. Altra then said I should remain cloaked, whereupon I told him I WAS cloaked when he shot me! Funny, he didn’t respond back to me after I told him that. As you can see, being cloaked didn’t help my survival rate much.

Belle Starr: That’s just one time though, right?

Erika Widowmaker: Yeah, right Belle, sure thing!

Belle Starr: Well couldn’t you just run away?

Erika Widowmaker: PVP, Belle. Moving target is the norm.

Belle Starr: I understand that the capture points were pretty far from each other, so couldn’t you just jump on your runner, take a screen shot, and run to the next one?

Erika Widowmaker: I tried doing that…

Erika Widowmaker: …Didn’t work.

Belle Starr: Wow Erika, got to say you know how to die dramatically! Ok, do you have any screen shots where you aren’t dead?

Erika Widowmaker: If I got to a capture point before anybody else, or cleared it out before taking a picture, or just got lucky to take the screen shot before getting shot, then yeah, I did. Like this one I took as all my team mates swarmed a capture point, and as you can see, my EGO was being oh so helpful!

Belle Starr: Too bad we don’t have any more air time to spend on action shots since we spent so much of it on your dramatic deaths, Erika! I understand that Port Bruno was the rally point for the awards ceremony! Port Bruno is kind of big, being a port and all, so how did you find it and did you get an interview with Altra, the founder of the Cronus clan?

Erika Widowmaker: Interesting enough, it wasn’t that hard to find! Altras did give me an official quote, saying, “It was great to see everyone, granted the servers were a little unstable. We completely filled two Shadow War instances, that’s over 200 PVP players.”

Belle Starr: Although the Community Shadow War itself looked awfully chaotic, how was the awards' ceremony?

Erika Widowmaker: Surprisingly, very orderly, although also time consuming because so many people were in line – probably because every person in line got a legendary weapon donated by members of the Cronus clan! Kudos that!

Belle Starr: Hmm… I understand that Trion, Inc., had patron passes and such to give away in a raffle to the participants! Were you able to interview their representative?

Erika Widowmaker: Your old friend, Trion Kiwibird was there and said, “We’re pleased with the turnout and we look forward to supporting future events.”

Belle Starr: Well there you have it! A clear sign to the other clans that Trion, Inc., has their back in such events, just as we at FCN have your back gentle viewers when it comes to bringing the truth to the frontier in this post-apocalyptic world! This is Belle Starr for FCN promising you Lady Christianna’s exclusive expose of the dark underside of PVP soon and saying if you PVP, be sure and wear protection – OJ shields and cyber-rigs, sillies!
