With the Aftermath update there will be a new special delivery themed lockbox. It will contain some of the items below, the APS Trailblazer postal themed outfit and headgear and items with some new synergies.

Will be a thing
People get kicked out of cars when driving from one event to another. We had an event on the PTS where we reproduced the issue. We had a player intentionally lagged up.
It isn't tracked down 100% but pretty sure this is the problem. In situations where there is a lot of latency between you and the servers, when other clients thought that you were stuck. They sent a message to the server telling you to dismount from your vehicle. It made sense except in cases of high latency where they think you are stuck but you are not.
The bug has been around since beta, and have spent a lot of time trying to track it down.
We're going to add a monarch sized monster inside the Grid set soon. We've shown off the Inquisitor a bit before and finally settled on size which is bigger.
We're planning on doing some live events with decorations and themed outfits and rewards. Dynamic events that are themed off actual real world holidays. We've talked about doing Halloween, Thanksgiving or Christmas.
Some art updates are being made which may involve a larger interior in a future update. We've been working on our first season 3 update for Defiance that we will release towards the end of the year. It involves a lot of crawling around inside of arks and a new landmark inside of the bay area.
Aiming for mid October. We've made the choice to hold off on that. It links in with a fix for the XBOX patcher issue where it sometimes requires a full install. And the move to Free to Play.

North America in Dallas and Amsterdam for EU.
Update on lag
We're still making progress on it, I know people are having issues with it. There is a thread on the forums looking for feedback from people. There is a set of people who are getting it more frequently than other people.

Trivia: Early enemies
The Grid are the oldest enemy type in the game. In a zone called Quad Lake, which eventually became Mount Tam. It was frozen over at the time. The Grid and Volge were there. The Grid were referred to as Modunauts. Nano robots built by the arcs to start colonising planets.

Yeah this behavior does sound pretty strange. It might have been over simplified, maybe it just tells the server that it should check if x player responds in a period of time. And if it doesn't, remove them from the vehicle.
Although I don't really see why you'd need to be dismounted.

So let me see if I understood this correctly...
Player A's client sees Player B as being "stuck" and sends a message to the server about it which causes Player B to be removed from their vehicle.
This takes "trusting the client" to an entirely new level. Can you imagine the griefing potential of this? I think this is even better than frame freezing to shoot whoever you want.
